It’s crazy what can happen in a few months and even crazier what can happen in a week. When I look back a week ago it’s pretty amazing the change God has worked in my attitude. I was flipping through my journal and saw my entry from last Friday. At that point I was so depressed I didn’t even want to go to a concert at our church, I wrote that I didn’t want to have to lie one more time and say I was doing good, I didn’t want to see anyone, even my friends.
But God has worked in me in the past week… last night my friend called and she asked me how I was doing. And I said you know it’s still really hard but I’m not depressed like I was. And I am so thankful for that!
God is showing me that even in the painful times you can be full of joy.
Is it easy? No way! It’s still painfully hard.
But each day you have a choice, to look at your struggle as a never ending trial or you can see it as a way for you to grow stronger. You can let your circumstances steal your joy and leave you hopeless and depressed, or you can trust God and believe that there is a reason for even this trial.
28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Even this, whatever your struggle is, God can use for good. Life is so tough sometimes, but don’t let the storms turn you bitter, let them make you stronger! I’ve let hard times turn me bitter in the past… I beg you do not follow in my steps.
See the struggle as an opportunity to grow and learn to trust!
My dad told me “Even in this God is teaching us something.” And for me that would be patience, joy, trust, commitment and loyalty.
Is there something in your life that has been stealing your joy? Do you feel like it’s a hopeless situation?
Is anything too hard for the Lord? Genesis 18:14
Do we believe this? Like truly? Do we believe that nothing is to hard for our great God? Or is this struggle in your life too big for the one who formed the Universe? No way!
God is BIGGER than whatever you are going through. Cling to Him. God is writing this story, and if we knew what He knows we wouldn’t want to change it…
Choose to trust. Choose joy.
