Christmas will be here in a few days before you know it and I’m sure you’re busy with last minute shopping and preparing for parties. But lets not forget what Christmas is all about. It’s not about the gifts you’re giving or going to receive it’s about Jesus’ birth.
He came to a young girl who was poor, he was born in a dirty barn because there was no room for them in the inn and his mother rapped him in a tattered blanket. Jesus is a King and He was not welcomed into the world like one. He should have been born in the richest palace on Earth with the finest cradle instead of a feed bunk. But He chose to come differently.
But He was not completely forgotten. The angels sang to the shepherds as they watched their sheep. How strange! These dirty stinky men who everyone else shunned because they lived with sheep outdoors, this is who God’s messenger went to FIRST to announce Jesus’ birth. God didn’t send the angels to the emperor or king, He sent them to simple shepherds. What would have been your response if you had been one of the shepherds?
Luke 2: 13-15
13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying 14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. 15 And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.
Have a very Merry Christmas celebrating Jesus’ birth!
